LIFE IN A MAFIA FAMILY
When it was my turn to get the bedroll I looked up. Right there in the reception area, I saw Paulie. He was laughing. Next to Paulie I saw Johnny Dio, and next to Dio was Fat Andy Ruggiero. They’re all laughing at me. All of a sudden the guards who had been screaming shut up like mice. Paulie and Johnny came around the table and started hugging me. The guards acted like Paulie and Johnny were invisible. Paulie put his arm around me and walked me away from the table. “You don’t need that shit”, Fat Andy said. “We got nice towels for you.”
Nicht verstanden. Wo ist da der Witz oder das wissens- bzw. interessante?
Nachdem letztens schon "Der Pate" auf dem Programm stand, hat Herr Vetter wohl einen Faible für Mafiaromane entwickelt. ;-)
Mich würde ja brennend interessieren, wie sich diese Klientel im wahren Leben benimmt.

Fand den Film sehr gut. Wie viel besser als der Film ist das Buch?

Es kommt auf die Reihenfolge der Wahrnehmung an.
Liest Du erst das Buch, wirst Du vom Film enttäuscht sein. Siehst Du erst den Film und liest anschließend das Buch, ist das Buch spannender. Ist jedenfalls meine Erfahrung.,

You wouldn´t quote a sentence from Palandt for that reason either even if Palandt was your favourite book, would you? Except, maybe, if that sentence had provably some effect of setting its reader rapidly asleep, thus making at least some practical use law-commentaries…

Quoting from legal text books is a typical habit of the German jurist. We are all standing on the shoulders of giants, aren´t we? The only thing that makes especially the Palandt so difficult to quote from is its notorious tendency to shortcut everything beyond comprehension.
I see. But you know, in some cases quoting the prescreption itself is quite sufficient to make yourself completely uncrompehensible. § 166 I BGB, for instance…
Ich habe halt keine Lust, minderschlaue Sachen über die Bücher zu schreiben, die ich lese.
Es ist sicher ein Fehler, erst das unglaublich faktenreiche Buch zu lesen und dann den Film anzusehen. Das Buch ist aber mindestens so unterhaltsam wie der Film.
Zu dem Thema kann ich derzeit John Dickie: "Cosa Nostra" empfehlen. Historische Darstellung der Geschichte der Mafia. Sehr gut!
Das Buch liegt schon im Regal.
